Adrian grabbed the drink, tossing it back in one go before filling his glass again. Rabastan's little speech caused him to raise his eyebrows and he had to stifle a laugh. "Rab, I'm telling you this because you're family and I respect you. Most of the time, anyway. If you intend to make this public, don't use the words 'join' and 'Death Eaters' in the same sentence. Weren't you the one who just recently declared in the journals that Death Eaters died with Voldemort?" The look on his face was amused, but the tone of his voice wasn't.
He closed his eyes for a moment, and when he spoke again his voice was low, almost conspiratorial. "You have a point, however. The murder of Mr Weasley, or death, whichever it was, was just the beginning. I don't know what's going on behind closed doors, but based on what I've been able to read on the journals you'll soon have a rebellion to deal with." He paused to down his drink, trying to sort out his thoughts. "We don't need to be divided now. Whatever they are planning, I want no part in it. They'll end up getting sick and I don't want that. I don't want Penny to get sick. But, I won't join the Death Eaters. I'm not going to start killing people who disobey. That's not me." Merlin, at least he hoped that wasn't who he was.
