Without anyone else around, it felt...easier. Maybe it was the wine and the fire, the atmosphere, but it was just comfortable. It was much easier to get beyond uncertainties, at least in some ways.
Though he wasn't sure he had told her so, he found her thing for socks - and mugs, he recalled - adorable. His smile twitched just a bit, resting his arm around her shoulders and sighing contently. This truly was nice.
"Hmm, it is." He smiled contently, looking back down at her. He took a moment to just look at her, to feel her against him and take it all in before leaning his forehead against hers, eyes closed, lips close enough to kiss, but he refrained. "I am lucky to be here with you. I'm glad we talked before I let you go."
