Eva's smile widened as he spoke. He was ok. She had seen and heard it for herself. As for Sam still being missing... It may have been why it had taken a few days for her to make her way over here. She'd disappeared for the day when he'd made it back - she'd needed to be alone in her room with no one to interrupt her thoughts. She had needed the time to be angry that Alvah's brother had come back and not her own, and not feel guilty about feeling that way. At least for a short period. After that, though, she'd been genuinely concerned that he was too unwell to see visitors, so when Samir had posted to the Underground online network, she had been happy to hear that Francis was indeed well enough.
Eva sat before speaking, taking her usual moment of silence to gather her thoughts. "I'm good," she said. And it wasn't a lie. In spite of the airstrike and everything else, things were pretty normal for her. "Alvah helped me with Rufus and Rory. They were a little skittish for a while. I think he's going to be a good member of the team when he's old enough," she said. She figured that Alvah was not the type to brag, not when he had a sick brother to think about, so she felt it was her duty to let Frankie know that his little brother deserved praise.
"I brought you something," she said after a moment, picking up the pastels from under her sketchbook where she'd hidden them when she sat down. "I figured you already had yours brought to you, but some might need replacement, so..." Her cheeks reddened a bit. What if he didn't want them, or thought it was inappropriate? Gift giving was difficult - Eva liked doing it, but she could never be certain if she'd overstepped some sort of boundary.
