va had bundled up good to go topside, as she always did. A scarf and gloves - plus a hoodie or pants with pockets - to keep her abnormalities concealed. She wore them now, even in the Underground, but up here it was necessary to pass safely to her friend’s house. These treatments had become a regular part of her schedule, and now it was just something she did. She didn’t think about how much it drained her, though she always made sure to give herself a day to recover before going back on duty; it was just part of the process, at this point.
Arriving safely at Syd’s door, Eva knocked just to let her know she was here. “Hey, it’s me,” she called through the door before opening it. Syd was always ready for her, so she didn’t much worry about catching her at an awkward time, but she did worry that maybe if she didn’t know who was coming through the door, she’d end up with a face full of fist. Which would suck. Hence the announcement of her arrival. For Eva, it was a relief to get here. She knew her being able to pass was contingent upon others not paying attention to detail, and that was risky.
Once she was in, she closed and locked the door and headed over to where Syd was resting on the couch. “How are you doing?” she asked, stripping off the scarf and gloves. For some reason, she always felt like she couldn’t be restricted when she was going to use her powers. She didn’t know if it mattered, and she didn’t even consciously think about it enough to try and test it out. It was just a feeling that nagged at her.
