The smile and nod were thanks; Eva recognized that.
And, of course he couldn't find anything wrong. The world was a lot scarier through Eva's eyes, and few people saw it that way. It seemed odd to think that someone who could remain calm and composed, and even take on certain leadership roles, could fail to see normal, everyday interaction as anything but terrifying. But that was how it was for Eva.
The brunette pressed her lips together and squeezed her eyes shut, nodding to his question. She put a hand to the side of her face and looked away, taking a few deep breaths. Composed then, as much as she could be, she looked back over at him timidly.
"I meant, you're an amazing artist." Long pause. "You really think my drawings are good?" She meant, he wasn't just saying that to be polite, right? Cuz it was one thing to be nice to someone about their talent, but if he really meant it, well. That would mean a lot.
