WHO: Noelle and Ryder
WHAT: The aftermath of the fun night of music and movies and awesome.
WHERE: The beach hut of awesome Youtubey goodness.
WHEN: June 17th ;; morning
The night had been pretty incredible. Movies had been fun, and her toned down, acousticized version of the song that Ryder had given her had been a pretty big hit, too. The amount of awkwardness she had been worried about had actually twisted and turned into just... fun. Ryder's friends weren't like the social circles she'd grown up in. Fitting in, being friendly with them... it felt natural. More than once, she found herself wondering if that was the life she'd been missing, but really, she hadn't had enough time to think about those sorts of things, because she was too busy socializing. And really socializing. Not, like... fancy parties and ball gowns. The smiles she'd been giving were the most genuine she'd given in her entire life. Noelle's eyes fluttered open, and there were a few moments of happy confusion, the feeling of relaxation of a night well spent and waking up beside someone that she actually liked, actually cared about, was enough to delay the panic of that person being decidedly not Will for about fifteen seconds. In which time, her eyes closed again and she relaxed to try to get a few more minutes of sleep, settled against his shoulder and leaned against his body. And then, when that fact set in, her eyes shot open. Oh no... she thought, turning her head to look at Ryder, and then looking around the room. Okay. So she'd fallen asleep. So she'd fallen asleep leaned against another man. No big deal. It was no big deal, right? Except that it was absolutely a big deal. It had been hard enough convincing Will to let her leave the room. The promise she'd made was that she'd be back before nightfall. But here it was, morning. And not only was it morning, but it was morning and she was laying sprawled out on someone else's couch, with her head on someone else's shoulder... comfortable for the first time in a long, long time? Yeah. It was a pretty damn big deal. Okay, okay, what did she do now? The only thing you really can do, she thought to herself. She needed to leave. But everyone else was still sleeping, so... I'll leave a note. That's what I'll do. Because... I definitely wouldn't mind coming by again, if Will would let me, so... I just need... paper. She looked around. Swallowing thickly, she carefully slowly moved her body off of his, hoping not to wake him. As soon as Leon saw his mommy moving, though, he perked his head. Apparently, he had other plans. Jumping up on the couch, he gave one excited bark and kissed Noelle's face in an excited good morning. "Shh, shh, Leon, you're gonna wake everyone up," she whispered. |
