“Sure, we can hang around. Give the viewers what they want. They’ve got a lotta hotties working here.” Rolling her bag closed, she snatched it and her drink off the counter. The smell of hot food made her stomach rumble and her mouth water, and she bounced impatiently on her heels until Indy’s food was ready, too.
From the window, she could see one employee standing outside taking a cigarette break. Looked like he was chatting with the woman walking her dog around. They were pointing over at a couple zombie impersonators hollering across the road. Maddie’s brows dropped when she saw the elaborate makeup jobs.
Many times she wished she could have bragging rights for what real zombies were like. It would make them so much more popular than they currently were.
Maddie sucked liquid through her straw, cola fizzing in her nose. She gave a little cough and glanced back at her friend.
“Second thought, let’s head home. We can hang out on the roof and eat.” There wouldn’t be any stupid zombie impersonators there.
