“Who says I wouldn’t invite someone else to fly with me?” Not that she’d really had time to get close to too many people during her time here. Who knew what the hell would happen in a year. “Besides, you wouldn’t wanna fly without me either.”
In response to that, Maddie sent a hearty burp in Indy’s direction.
“Takes a nerd to know a nerd,” was her retort. The last of her beer was flat and gross but she downed it anyway, then squeezed the empty can and tossed it into the next trash bin they passed.
No denial was voiced at that, but neither was agreement either. Her only response was a raised eyebrow. She grunted an affirmative to the question. “Well now we’ve gone and given away our next plan. You think anyone watching will post a warning on Twitter?” She wasn’t worried about the tv news crews watching them. They always stuck up their noses at the YouTube community. No way would they lower themselves to doing research. She puffed a breath out her nose and shook her head. “Guess we’ll have to start keeping it secret what we’re actually planning to do,” she said, implying it was all their viewers’ faults for being tattletails.
“Ouch. That would’ve been really uncomfortable.” Maddie pulled a face and wiggled her shoulders, as if she could feel imaginary bombs in her bra. “Not that what I was wearing wasn’t hella tight and itchy.”
Her nod added emphasis to Indy’s invitation. It was usually cool when they ran into views, except for the times their nerd status brought dorky guys out from under their rocks. Ugh. “Nah, think I’m gonna go with the usual.” Once she found something on a menu she liked, she often stuck with it. Picky eaters unite.
“Cool, they’re not crowded either.” Which wasn’t surprising for a Tuesday night. “You think the hot guy’s working tonight? Might be able to talk him into giving us that discount.”
