WHO: Ken and Deb
WHERE: RV Camp, going for a walk
WHEN: July 11, 2015; early evening
WHAT: Ladybros have been keeping important info from each other.
Not even a month had gone by since the hotel went down. Kendall already felt very much at home in the RV camp with Deb and Travis, sharing an empty RV with Wyatt. Prior to this, she’d spent enough time in his space to constitute them living together, yet she hadn’t been willing to give up her own room, her own personal space. She was almost completely certain what was developing between her and Wyatt was love, but there was a slight hesitance to keep all her eggs in one basket. Fucking stupid phrase, that. Whoever came up with that deserved a broken nose. Kendall still hadn’t told Deb about the relationship, though. Nor had her friend asked, despite the oddity of the pair of them sharing a living space within close vicinity to one another. Kendall reasoned that Deb simply didn’t want to push - didn’t want a repeat of when Kendall refused to be Lily’s babysitter. And she was fine with that. Took complete advantage of that excuse, actually. She valued Deb’s friendship, but there were things she liked keeping to herself. Apparently being in love with Wyatt was one of those things. Hell, she hadn’t even told him that she was in love. Transparency was not a trait Kendall had mastered, nor did she want to, if she was being honest. Transparency led to vulnerability and vulnerability led to getting hurt. She wasn’t sure she was ready to toe the line. But that didn’t mean she was going to avoid the people she was holding her tongue around. Hell no. Too few people were on her good list as it was. Stepping out of her RV (which still stank vaguely of death and old pasta from the previous owner) and into the fresh air, she took a moment to look around the small camp. She’d had her doubts about a small camp surviving an attack of zombies. But it was still standing. The massive hotel was not. Hell, she hadn’t even seen one zombie since moving out here. That wasn’t to say there were none to be found. She’d seen a few out in the jungle. But so far they didn’t seem interested in this little nook of the island. The sun was low in the sky, stars beginning to twinkle up above. Night would be here soon, but it was the perfect time of day for a walk. She pushed her braided hair behind her shoulder and stepped off the crate that formed a step down from the RV. It wobbled under her weight and she held an arm out for balance. Deb and Travis’ RV was on the opposite side of the big cook fire in the center of the camp. She wound her way around the people clearing away dinner and went over to rap on Deb’s door. She knew Travis was over at the lab, probably still helping set it up as the new medical facility on the island. “Hey! Get your big ass out here and let’s go for a walk,” she called to her friend. |
