WHO: Deb & Travis
WHERE: The Beach
WHEN: FORWARD DATED - June 1, 2015; afternoon
WHAT: A fun and flirty afternoon gets less fun when Deb's jealously and insecurity flairs up.
The sand was warm between her toes, which she wiggled happily. Even with everything around them going to hell, no one could deny that the water was beautiful here. Too dangerous to get near in spots, sure, but still gorgeous. This little strip of fenced off beach was like a mental retreat from the horrors just beyond the fence. You could still hear the zombies, but you always could and in a way they had become a sort of white noise a lot of the time. Easy enough to ignore in favor of enjoying the warm sunshine and an afternoon of playing with her favorite people. Especially with the sound of Lily and the other kids laughter echoing further up the beach where they'd settled to work on what they had proclaimed would be the most epic sand castle to have ever been built. Sand castles weren't really her thing, despite having lived on the beach almost her entire life. That said, she wasn't above playing in the sand either and there was something strangely amusing about slowly burying Travis beneath handful after handful. Deb wiggled her toes again, glad that she'd kicked her sandals off almost immediately, and added another handful to the mound that was finally beginning to actually cover his legs. She hoped they had beaches in Texas, that they'd get to have moments like this still. If they made it to Texas - the little voice in the back of her head snidely pointed out he had options, that he might not want her to tag along still by the time they actually got free. She was trying to ignore the doubt in favor of having fun as it wasn't often they actually got to spend a whole afternoon together and she wanted to enjoy it. A peal of laughter from the kids quirked her smile back up from the thoughtful expression it had drooped into as she carefully packed the fresh sand down. |
