For anyone else Ezra would have told them to fuck off and leave him alone, he didn’t need to hang out on the beach and get sun. But Lydia wasn’t just anyone and if there was one thing he struggle with, it was saying ‘no’ to any one of his sisters. Even if a trip out to the beach meant enduring looks when total strangers caught sight of his scars. This trip was suppose to be about having fun, he was well aware of that fact. But there was still a large part of him that wasn’t comfortable with the scars, with the pitying looks or the way people wanted to pry about how it happened, which usually led to words of sympathy and empty exclamations that maybe he’d recover fully some day. Docs had told him six months in that there wasn’t any chance he’d gain full range of motion ever again, basically this was the best he could expect - which was still a hard pill to swallow. Kicking at the sand as he lazily threw a frisbee for Nori to catch, Ezra was actively ignoring the group of college age girls that were watching him. Years ago he would have assumed he was getting the attention for his looks, not anymore though, now he was nearly one hundred percent positive it was the road map of scars that held their attention. Casting a look in their direction, he didn’t bother to hide the scowl that had settled on his features. Ezra had learned early on that most people kept quiet and left him alone if he acted surly as hell. “So did Cassidy and Hadley vote you to be the one to drag me out of my hotel room and enjoy this place?” Ezra questioned as he shifted his attention from the girls and over to his older sister. “Because if you have some grand scheme to beat my ass at volleyball, I’m going to tell you now that I’m not much a challenge anymore.” He remarked, though he’d attempt to play if that was what Lydia wanted. |
