Nobody knew exactly what was happening, all anyone one was one moment they were all vacationing and the next moment the whole island was under quarantine and things like 'black death' and 'plague' were being thrown around. Both seeming increasingly unlikely, because so far the symptoms of the sick weren't anything like either of those things. No, the illness overtaking the island was something else entirely, people would start to feel flu like, then the delusions would start and finally it was as if people had simply turned into mindless lemmings. The sick weren't trying to hurt anyone, no, if anything they were a danger to themselves until they could be cured - expect nobody knew if there was a cure - all they knew is that you didn't want one of the 'wanderers' to touch you. Touch was how it spread. Dovie hadn't meant to go out so far from the resort, but one moment she had been taking a hike and the next moment she had been confronted with a group of roamers, they had been oblivious to her presences, but by the time she had realized she was in dangerous territory it was too late. She had scrambled to get out of the throng of wanderers, but her own gracelessness had landed her in a heap on the ground (having tripped over her own feet) and near as she could tell she had a broken wrist. In the chaos she didn't know if she had been touched by one of the wandering lost souls or not, so the only sane thing to do was to admit herself to the quarantine facility they had established. Dovie stumbled through the doors of the makeshift quarantine, a sheepish look gracing her features as she caught the attention of the first medical type person she saw. "I think my wrist is broken," the redhead began. "Oh and I'm not sure, but I may or may not have come in contact with a wanderer..." Dovie trailed off, though quickly found herself explaining. "It was really chaotic when I hurt my wrist and there were a lot of them and all I could think about was this pain, so umm, I'm voluntarily quarantining myself," she paused to take a breath. "I can do that, right?" |
