Wyatt had been trying to be better about the time he spent holed up in the shop, tinkering on things that wouldn’t get them any closer to being off the island. Trying is the key word, since he had only been successful about half of the time. Less than half really, but he was being generous with his guess. There were a couple more small boats that him and Jere had gotten closer to working again. They would work decent enough on the river, and with the way things had been going, they would find a use for them somehow. Nothing really got neglected these days, not if it could be useful in survival. If Wyatt was more of consistent deep thinker he’d have started to wonder if they were just an experiment to the outside world now. Aside from cargo drops it wasn’t really like he could see where everyone not stuck on the island was working towards a solution. But he wasn’t a conspiracy theorist and had better things to do with his time. Zombie activity around the marina had been slim lately, so Wyatt had the stereo cranked loud. Loud enough that he could hear it in the back where he was welding a piece for one of the boats. Not that he was stupid though, he had a couple fail safes in place just in case the noise did draw in any unwelcome visitors. The slow ones wouldn’t ever get in, but there were a couple he’d heard stories about that he didn’t want to push his luck with. Nothing like a runner getting into the shop, or some other shit like that. Break a perfect record when it came to undead and the marina’s safety. Not even the hotel could boast that kind of a record. |
