Since quarantine had been lifted most people didn't feel the need to make the trip out to the laboratory hidden out in the jungle. Only a handful of people still made their way out everyday, those in charge of the prisoners living there now and those still curious about the research. Cassidy fell into the latter category, but even she only made the trip out a couple times a week usually - as much to check on the well being of the scientist as to reread notes. Even she hadn't been out that way this week though, too busy with life. At least until one of the other volunteers came running into the lobby, slamming the door open as they shouted in a panic. At first it was just words that didn't make sense, wouldn't connect in her brain. Then it started to click into place - murder, at the laboratory. The scientist were all dead. Her feelings toward the group were mixed, but she'd spoken to each of them during her various visits and felt obligated to join the group that planned to head out. Even she wasn't optimistic enough to think anyone might really still be holding on, but she had to go just in case. Ahead of them marched Logan and one of the guards she didn't know well, having a conversation that looked incredibly serious if facial expressions were anything to go by. Behind them were a couple stragglers she could only assume were making the trip out of curiosity, given the conversation they'd been having the entire walk. Though she'd chimed in a few times through, she hadn't said much the walk. They were almost there though, and a sudden wave of nervousness bubbled up. "Is this your first time coming out to the lab?" She didn't remember having seen the brunette out that way before, but that didn't necessarily mean anything. "Hopefully it's not actually as bad as it sounded. I'm not even sure the volume of blood he was shouting about is possible from just a handful of people though.. it sounded more like the scene from a really bad horror movie." It wasn't that she expected the other woman to have answers, sometimes it was just easier to spit out whatever words happened to form. Even when no one replied, she still felt better for getting them out of her brain - found some comfort in hearing her own voice against the quiet if nothing else. |
