Yesterday had been nothing but chaos, pure and utter chaos. The last thing she had wanted to face was another quarantine, the first one had been such a horrible experience for everyone involved. At least this time she didn't have the added worry of one of her loved ones being involved, could step back and only be invested as one of the medics keeping everyone's wounds wrapped and monitoring for any changes that indicated one of them was turning. Along with the medics who were working around the clock in shifts, there were also volunteers working security every shift. Safety procedures in case one of the others did unfortunately turn. Which Cassidy appreciated, because the idea of having to shoot one of her patients didn't settle well with her. She understood the need, even agreed that they had no choice, but that didn't mean she thought she could pull the trigger if the time came. (Had a sinking feeling she wouldn't be the only medic who felt that way too, especially given some of the patients.) She appreciated it even more when the volunteer working security happened to be one of her friends. Since it'd been a fairly quiet day so far, most of the others quietly mulling around and facing the reality they were dealing with, Cassidy went to seek her friend out. With nothing going on that required her assistance, all she'd been doing for most of the day was looking over the lab notes. Which was interesting, but also headache worthy, especially when she'd read the same sentence multiple times now and still didn't actually understand it. Definitely time to switch gears. It took a moment to find the other woman, but when she did she aimed a quick smile at Sydney. "I'm coming to keep you company for awhile," she announced. "Unless you're not really doing anything either, then I say we step outside for a minute." |
