Moving crates around the lower levels of the hotel was an ordeal. Three inches of water sloshed around her feet, sinking into her Converse and soaking her socks. It wasn’t the first time her feet had been in wet shoes, nor would it be the last, but the wetness did make the floor slippery. More than once the crate she was carrying almost lost its contents to the water pooling into the room, and Kendall almost ate marble floor. What kind of idiot thought it was a good idea to keep perishable supplies down in an area prone to flooding? No matter that, years before this, flooding in the hotel hadn’t been a problem. They’d always been able to contain it before. But still, people in charge should've planned ahead for this. Kendall’s help - or rather, the people she’d agreed to help - had been on a break for more than half an hour now and she was seething with the realization that they were more than likely not coming back. It would’ve been so easy for her to abandon the job, too, but this was shit that needed to get done. Like hell was she going to be the reason important supplies got ruined. She was on her way to the boardroom with the higher shelves when she nearly collided with a young girl. “Sorry, kid,” she muttered, frowning slightly. “You know you should be careful around here. There’s water all over the damn place.” As if that wasn’t obvious, but she didn’t know the intelligence level of every kid in the hotel. |
