WHO: Christien and Hadley
WHERE: Christien's room
WHEN: backdated - Feb 14, 2015; afternoon
WHAT: A little bravery and Valentine's confessions.
It wasn't brave the way people always made romantic gestures in the movies. He hadn't stood up in front of a crowded room and declared his love, or chased after her at the last minute to beg her to stay for him. It probably barely counted as brave, really, sliding her the USB stick with the promise of a new playlist that she should really listen to as soon as she could over breakfast, but it had been all that Christien could come up with that hadn't struck him with anxiety so extreme he couldn't figure out how to make his limbs move the way he wanted them to. Even that had left his mouth dry and his hands clammy, just the knowledge that he was laying his feelings all on the table. So much could go wrong, even beyond the likeliness of her feelings not being even remotely the same. What if she didn't understand what he was trying to say? What if he was too subtle, what if she just thought it was a normal playlist? Okay, so that seemed unlikely given the very particular song choices and the notepad file he'd included telling her he'd be around his room all day if she wanted to talk, but it was still a fear that chewed at his brain. It was likely she had realized something was off long before she ever played the first song, actually. Christien had been so nervous he'd stumbled over the few words he had managed to spit out about the playlist. What if he'd embarrassed her? So what if she was probably used to him blushing and getting slightly tongue tied around her, this could have been the time it had been too much. Fresh air, that's what he needed. Before he spiraled himself into a full on state of panic. The door was unlocked, since Sera had left a moment before (likely tired of watching him pace around the room, wringing his hands or raking them through his hair over and over). Grabbing his guitar from his bed, Christien tried to distract himself by taking a seat out on the deck and playing whatever song came to mind first. Anything to distract himself from what had clearly been a horrible idea. Of course, he didn't realize at first that it happened to be one of the ones he'd included on her playlist. |
