Venturing into the city wasn't something she did. Looting in general wasn't actually something she did too much of either. Plenty of others who wanted to do the job, so Cassidy mostly stuck by the hotel. The boys could be the bigger adventurers, she was alright with usually being the one on-hand if there was a sudden need for a medic. Meant she could spend more time with her nieces and Carly, even sometimes going so far as to bring the girls with her to the greenhouse for a couple hours since Louisa was spending a lot of her time out there still. Carly being the reason she was making this particular trip now, actually. They'd been dating again for a month, so her upcoming birthday seemed like an even bigger deal then it already would have (funny that even after all these years she managed to remember it was coming up, since it wasn't like the brunette was likely to remind her). Probably she could have gotten someone else to do the looting for her, but it seemed like cheating to do it that way. She wanted to be the one to find the perfect gift, even if that meant fairing the city. At least she hadn't been forced to do so on her own, she thought with a grin toward her baby sister. "Did I mention yet today that you're my favorite?" Not that it mattered if she had, she wasn't shy about showering each of her siblings with favoritism at any given moment. "And I'm not actually finding anything that seems even a little like it'd make a decent gift down here." They'd skipped the apartment nearest the city edge, mostly because she had known it was a popular looting spot being so far out from everything and likely to be picked over of anything worth taking. Never really heard much about the neighborhood of houses though, so they'd seemed worth a look even if there had been more zombies mulling around on this street then they'd seen anywhere else so far. Dropping the book she'd just picked up back onto the couch, she swept her gaze around the living room one more time before turning it back onto Hadley again. "Don't think any of these houses have basements, but we could try upstairs? Maybe there's something in one of the bedrooms that'd actually work." Not that she was being maybe just a little unreasonably picky so far. It was their first birthday though, so she thought it was understandable; it was in her own mind at least. |
