Renata couldn’t hold her own smile back for long, but it probably looked a little funny paired with a roll of her eyes. Being annoyed at the effort that Mason had made just wasn’t worth it. He was obviously trying to be a good sport about the holiday. “‘Course my heads the same size.” She’d let it go, because it wasn’t like it had been that bad. Cade had posted a terrible drunk picture to Facebook, but at least that wouldn’t happen this time around. Renata wasn’t even sure if Mason would know how to work Facebook even if they did have internet access. “Reckon the hotel didn’t love that sock burning.” Now she almost wished she’d been present for that, just to see what kind of damage it might’ve done.
And he was growling, so there was that. Better not to poke at him for too long.
“Awww, you’re all sentimental, Mase,” Renata teased, showing as many teeth as possible before she tried to down half the bottle of ale and came back up spluttering a little. She coughed a couple times before she set the bottle on the table.
Of course Mason’s response was textbook. “Why not, you’re cute, it would get a lot of traffic!” She grinned, completely unswayed by his threat. He wouldn’t really break her camera, she didn’t think. “It’s letting me do that, or filming a drunk holiday vlog with me.” She probably didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of him agreeing to either, but trying to make the deal was fun anyway.
Her eyebrows drew together when Mason started sifting in the things next him, and she was more than surprised that he pulled out a matching hat. Man, it really would be fun to get a picture of him wearing that hat. Maybe she would wheedle him down to taking a selfie with her.
“How could I be when you’re a bloody picture in that hat, Masey.” Renata bent forward and flicked the white ball at the end of his hat, picking her ale back up before she settled back down. “More adorable than me, even.” She took another couple pulls from her bottle, which felt a lot emptier than she expected it to. But, they had a whole pack and it was a holiday.
