WHO: Lydia and Logan
WHERE: Security building
WHEN: [forward-dated] November 18, 2014; afternoon
WHAT: Hearing about the supply drop. Planning.
The security building was one Lydia usually made a point to circumvent whenever she entered or exited the resort grounds. None of the guards were among her favorite people. True, she couldn’t avoid an interrogation completely - the entrances were still watched quite closely - but at least the questions came mostly from civilians volunteering to watch the doors. The inconvenience of giving over to a bite check wasn’t pleasant in any context, but at least it was better than being felt up by one of the security goons. Today, for no other reason than wanting to take the quickest way into the building to grab some lunch, Lydia stuck to the main path, jaw set and prepared to be approached by whoever was watching the cameras on the mid shift. Each step made her grow more and more tense… because no one had come out yet. Someone was always in that building, or so she thought. It had been a while since she’d come this way; maybe security didn’t do bite checks or any of that shit here anymore. She didn’t really want to stop and find out what was up, but at the same time, if zombies had gotten in, she felt it was her duty to check things out, make sure shit was okay. Fuck my conscience, seriously, she thought as she neared the door. A load of static and a canned voice could be heard through the crack in the door. She couldn’t make out any of the words, but it was obviously a transmission. Probably an important one, too, if it was being transmitted to the security building. One word did make her ears perk up. “What’s that about more supplies?” Uninvited, Lydia pushed her knuckles against the door, making it open several more inches. There was only one person in the building. A woman Lydia sure as hell didn’t want to see or talk to, but of all the members of security still living, Logan was the most likely to answer her question. That wasn’t saying much, though. |
