WHO: The Stone's
WHERE: The Treehouse
WHEN: May 1st, night
WHAT: tbd
Though it was certainly the safest location to be, there was something especially ominous about being high up in the trees once the sun started going down. Branches swayed, either from the light breeze they caught from above or the critters leaping from them, occasionally knocking against the thatched hut and creating eerie scratching noises. Though it was impossible, as they couldn't climb the ladders, it never failed to make Cassidy worry there was a zombie lurking just outside their hut. Of course, she never shared that thought with the others. It wasn't important, an impractical thought that would just scare the girls for no reason. Plus it would ruin the illusion that she wasn't scared. The worst part of all this, right after Lyd's daughters being trapped on hell island with them, was knowing their brother was out there somewhere. Probably not alone, but not with them, which was almost as bad in her book. At least she was still sure he was out there, alive and not zombie-chow. Things weren't completely dire. Sitting on what she could only associate as the villagers version of a deck (which was really more of a thin passage with a railing all around the hut, likely used to get from rope bridge to the next so families could get to their respective huts), Cassidy let her feet dangle over the edge. It wasn't like she could really see much, but it was nice to sit out here and at least pretend she was doing something constructive. Too dark to travel, or loot, or do much of anything actually useful so why not. Her only other option was to go back inside the hut and sit there instead; at least on the "deck" she got some air circulation. Plus, last she knew, the youngest Stone girls had both fallen asleep so staying out of the way for awhile seemed like the best course of action. Squinting, she could almost make out a bird sitting a few trees over. Staying in these huts would have been a lot more exciting before, when this was still just a family vacation and not a survival test. |
