Tracking Lydia down hadn’t been all that difficult for Hadley, though it had taken more time than she’d told Mari it would, her sister had still been a fairly easy person to find. She was also relieved that it didn’t look like Lydia was caught up in anything too important, so the likelihood of being able to separate her from her task would be easier. Honestly, Hadley should have known better than to blindly agree to a game before she knew what it was. Mari was in that stage now where the simple grade school games just weren’t that interesting, though they still entertained Ana easily enough. But, she still hadn’t been expecting Mari to tell her they were going to play Truth or Dare. Actually, she was going to blame that idea on Mari’s friend, since he seemed like the type of kid that would suggest that game. At least he had been nowhere to be found, so he wasn’t going to be playing. In any case, she wasn’t going to play Truth or Dare by herself, not if she could potentially rope a sibling into it. Might help to keep things from going too extreme also. She probably should have just shut it down, but the look on her nieces face had been so hopeful once the ‘yes’ had slipped out of her mouth. Going back on her agreement just seemed mean. “What are you up to?” Hadley asked in lieu of a greeting, certain that her intentions for interrupting were written on her features; she wasn’t trying to be sneaky, so she didn’t mind if Lydia was clued in that her intentions were more than just curiosity. “And how much work is it going to be to pull you away to play a game with the girls and I?” She smiled hopefully, too smart to try and bank on the baby sister card, but hoping that it might help anyway. |
