Personality:
Though she can at times be quite intense, may would be surprised to find out how warm and fun-loving Joan is. She is someone who is neither unused or opposed to hard work - either professionally or at play - and she expects the same from those around her. Although she expects a lot, she's generous with rewards when her expectations are met or exceeded.
History/Additional Information:
From the time The Runaways were picked up and put out their first album in 1975 (she was 17), Joan has been experimenting with sex and her sexuality. It started out just experimenting with her bandmates but quickly progressed to including boyfriends and bedhopping and orgies, complete with 'mind-expanding' drugs. After the band disbanded in 1979, Joan struck out on her own. It was a chance meeting with songwriter/producer Kenny Laguna that was to change her life forever.
Joan came to live with Laguna and his wife while she recorded her first solo record and then attempted to shop it. During that time, she became the couple's 'girl' and found a peace she'd never known existed within her. When the couple used their daughter's college savings to help her produce the album herself, Joan responded by giving herself completely over to them. In 20 years with the Lagunas, Joan learned first how to submit, then how to dominate...and that each had its own particular thrill.
The year 2000 brought huge changes to Joan's life. It was time for her to be truly on her own (for perhaps the first time in her life). She and the Lagunas' lives finally veered in separate directions and, with great love and affection and many tears, they sent her off to conquer the next phase of her life. She went to New York to star as Columbia in a production of The Rocky Horror Show, the 8 shows a week keeping her mind (mostly) off of what she'd left behind in LA.
Eventually, memories of the LA market spurred Joan to seek out the one in New York. She hasn't looked back. The last 8-9 years, whenever she's had the time, Joan's continued her own personal 'quest for self' with the slaves at the Una market, earning a reputation as tough and occasionally hard-to-please but fair and generous when she is pleased.
