Who: The best roommates ever, aka Zach and Susan and a cameo from Sir Galahad
What: An average evening in the Smith-Bones household
When: Dinner time
Where: Smith-Bones flat
Rating: PG there could be some language
Status: Incomplete

Susan had gone out shopping like she had promised Zach she would and had come back with a collection of food, wine, and other things she probably didn't need. Somehow she had even slipped in some shoe shopping and had bought expensive tea out of weakness for the smell of it. She really had to stop doing that otherwise she would be strapped for cash. After returning home she had spent the rest of the time in the kitchen with Sir Galahad bugging her around her feet for the milk she was pouring into the bowl for her cookies. She was baking and preparing her roasted chicken and steamed vegetables. Once all was complete it was time to go wake up the sleeping beauty, he had arrived from work and the bugger had gone to bed. Susan began to think of ways to get the bum up and as she poured cat food into the bowl she spoke to Sir Galahad. "So Galahad what do you think, would a cookie wake him up?" Susan thought the idea was a good one and picked a fresh cookie up in a napkin and headed to Zach's room.

Susan stifled a giggle as she watched Zach sleep and crouched near his bed before waving the cookie underneath his nose. If this didn't work she would resort to sitting on him, or even jumping on him. Susan began to run through the potential ideas of waking him if the delicious cookies didn't do the job. Susan waited with baited breath to see if Zach would stir, she was not going to help the cook just let it work its magic.

Zacharias twitched in his sleep. He was dreaming about flying through the countryside on a broom, but his dreams were woefully halted by the smell of baked goods. He didn't stir, and his dream changed a little. Flying through the countryside, his broomstick was replaced with a giant flying chocolate chip cookie.

"What the-?" his dream self asked, looking around. The sky was full of giant cookies! This was the most delicious dream he had ever had!

Bugger, she thought as she placed the cookie aside; she would have to go about this by other means. Susan looked down glad she was in a pair of jeans otherwise what she was about to do next would have given Zacharias quite the sight to wake up to. With careful footing she moved onto the bed a leg either side of him hoping he wouldn't wake up to the sudden weight change. Once she was sure he was still asleep she got to her feet and had this silly grin on her face.

"Zacharias," she called softly and then started to jump up and down as she started to laugh. She was going to get him up if it was the last thing she would do. She felt her hair bouncing up and down and hitting her shoulders. As she jumped she began to wonder what it would be like to wake up to this.

"Wha-?" Zacharias woke very suddenly. "Susan what are you doing?" he grumbled, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. "Stop jumping on my bed why don't you?"

Zacharias hated being woken up. He had been having such a nice dream too, even though the flying cookies were a little weird. It was still a pleasant dream. "Is the apartment on fire or something?" he asked grumpily, hoping there was some reason as to why he was being so violently woken up.

"Success!" she shouted as she continued to jump but started to slow down finally coming to a stop. Susan grinned from ear to ear appearing rather proud of herself. Susan stepped off his bed and looked at Zacharias before picking up the cookie and tossing it at him. "Do you think I would have waved a cookie in front of your nose, or been so calm if the house was on fire." She paused before turning to the door, "And don't you think I would have just put it out with magic." Susan rolled her eyes at him as she eventually sat down on the end of his bed. "It is dinner time."

"Right, I'm very proud of you," he said, yawning and taking the cookie. "That's where those cookies came from," he muttered to himself thoughtfully. "I was just throwing some ideas out." Dinner was a happy prospect for him, and he pushed himself out of bed, eating his cookie as he did so. "Dinner is brilliant. What did you make?" he asked. This was one of the reasons he liked living with Susan, she was always willing to cook.

"You should be proud," she said smugly but of course with an air of playfulness about it. She stood up and headed towards the door looking back over her shoulder at him. "Chicken and steamed vegetables, don't worry not as bland as it sounds," she was quite serious as she loved to cook especially if it kept Zach from the kitchen as she wasn't quite prepared to taste his cooking. "So I will see you at the dinner table in two minutes, I will be the one uncorking the wine," Susan smiled as left Zacharias to his cookie.

He laughed and nodded as she left the room and then paced around for about a minute before walking out to the dinner table. "The one uncorking the wine, eh?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "If I didn't know you any better, I'd say that's a blatant attempt to get me drunk!" he continued.

"What," she said faking her shock and even a touch of an offended tone. "I would never do such a thing," she said with a grin as the cork finally came free of the wine. At one time she had been terrible at uncorking the wine and had a habit of breaking the cork. She would cheat from time to time using her wand but finally she had gotten a knack for it. "How much would you like?" She said as she hovered above the glass, her father always told her to pour for the guest first and not yourself and it was something she took to heart even if Zach was no guest.

"We have roasted chicken just finishing and the steamed veggies are keeping warm." She said causally as she looked at the table pleased that it looked good. Susan strangely took pride in her presentation and if anyone was to walk in and not no the situation they could think this some sort of dinner date.

"Not a lot," he said, sitting down. Zacharias wasn't really one for wine. "Your dinner, of course, sounds fantastic," he said, a bit facetious.

He grinned at Susan. Zacharias had gotten quite accustomed to living with her, and her home cooked meals and weird habits. The fact that this sounded and looked more like a date than it did two friends having dinner was just something he had adjusted to.

"Alright not a lot it is, I did get you something a little stronger and more to your liking for later though," Susan always liked to please her friends as they mattered so much to her. Her life was her family and her friends and it just came natural to do things for them. Susan had her habits and most people just adjusted to them, they had to when Susan didn't see things as others could see them.

After pour herself a healthy glass of wine after Zacharias' 'not alot' she turned around to bring the chicken breasts and vegetables to the table. "For dessert you will just have to deal with cookies I am afraid," she grinned as she placed the meal down on the table and took her seat. Susan usually let Zacharias dig in first as Susan usually made more than enough since she hardly ate much at each meal.

"Thanks, at least you understand my manly needs," he said jokingly.

"I can always deal with some of Susan Bones' cookies," he said nodding and shoveling food onto his plate. "If I'm not too full of the actual dinner, at least," he added. "Then again I could stand to gain a few pounds."

"Of course you and your manly needs," Susan laughed amused as he started to shovel food onto his plate. When it appeared he was satisfied with his appoint she started to fill her plate, well full for Susan. "I am sure you could manage to shovel at least one cookie into your mouth," she said with good humour as she placed the food back on the table before taking a sip of her wine.

"My very manly needs," he said, taking a sip of wine before actually starting in on dinner. "Or three," he corrected. "I have an endless appetite, you know. It's a Smith thing," he informed her seriously. Zacharias continued eating, silent (for once!) as he did so.

"Well you know me, I like to take care of your needs," Susan smiled before she took a bite of her food continuing eating looking up at Zach. "You do have an endless appetite, that is why I make so much." She laughed as she pushed some food around the plate before take a big mouth full. It was nice to eat dinner with someone, especially since it caused Zacharias to be quiet for once.

"I know you do," he said. He knew Susan well enough to not take that statement for more than what it was. She wasn't really one for innuendo or anything even vaguely inappropriate. "This is why I live with you," he said, gesturing to his plate as he piled more food onto it. "You're a very good cook."

Susan never thought of her words as innuendo or inappropriate mainly because she had yet to experience most of what she could be hinting at. Zach had to have grown accustomed to her by now. She continued picking at the food on her plate as Zacharias started on his second helping. "I like cooking and for you it really makes me beam cause you always love it." Grinning big as she took a sip of her wine.

"Well you're good at it, what's not to love," he said, continuing to eat. He paused to take another sip of wine and then continued with his eating.

"I dunno, I am sure if you tried you could find something," she said casually as she nearly finished her plate. She looked back to Zacharias and smirked now seemed the perfect time to plant the seed of one of her recent ideas. "So I was thinking, if you wanted to that is, that we could throw a party for no real reason at all. Well it could be Sir Galahad's birthday or something." Susan chuckled at the idea as she shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't want to try," he said shaking his head. Zacharias looked up skeptically when she suggested a party. "The cat's birthday? And invite people?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. He finished off his wine. "I suppose we could if you really wanted to," he conceded. "You'd have to send out invitations or contact people. Make sure there are relatively attractive people, please?" He was used to Susan's strange ideas, and it's not as if he was against having a party for the sake of having a party.

Susan laughed at Zacharias and shook her head, "No this is just a party for the sake of a party, but I felt like I should have a reason." Susan smirked as she took a drink from her wine again noticing she had already finished over half of her glass already. "As for the relatively attractive I am sure most of my friends and yours are." She rolled her eyes at Zach as she placed the glass back on the table.

"Good. We'll need a lot of food and alcohol," he started, pulling a 'thoughtful' face. "And whatever else you think we'd need for a party. We'll have to owl people, of course. Then you know, clean the flat, lock away all the valubles. The usual," he said, finishing off his plate. "It'll be fun. No Weasleys please?"

"Yes food and alcohol, I figure I could take the day off and cook up a storm. You can be charge of alcohol." Susan nodded her head as she thought about what she would make. She grinned as ideas popped in to her head. Of course she heard the words clean the flat and looked at him. "I clean, you just need to learn the habit as well." Susan smirked as she went to pour another glass of wine as he mentioned no Weasleys. "Oh, well I am not the closest with them so I suppose not a big deal, and we don't want to invite everyone as our flat couldn't take it."

Once her wine was poured she looked at him. "We could see if Andrew and well the rest of them want to play here." She shrugged her shoulders just thinking of the potential that could be their party.

"Alcohol I can do," he said. "Fine, I'll clean a little too." Zacharias frowned at the thought of cleaning, but he could manage. "Well if you want to invite a couple Weasleys, I expect I'm not above a drunken brawl," he told her with a shrug.

"I guess that's alright. Though they are a bit weird," he agreed.

Susan smirked with approval, "I figured as much." She knew that Zacharias wouldn't have much of an issue with being put in charge of the alcohol selection. Susan continued to muse about the food selection she could potentially make. As ideas began to collect she figured writing it all down would be best making shopping that much easier. Susan sipped at her wine looking over at Zach. "I don't want a drunken brawl."

Sighing she shifted in her seat wondering if she should start collecting dishes or not. "I know they are a tad odd, it is just something to think about." Susan shrugged her shoulders as she stood up. "Are you done eating?"

"Everyone wants a drunken brawl!" he said, waving off her comment. He was kidding, of course, but he did love to stir up a bit of trouble.

Zacharias nodded. "I'm done," he told her. "Do what you want for the party, it was your idea. I'll just be the guy getting everyone drunk," he said with a laugh.

Susan raised an eyebrow at him as he started picking up the plates and looking at the leftover food. Susan started piling the food dishes in her arms knowing this was quite the balancing act. "So the cookies are on the cooling rack if you want them." Susan started to waddle towards the kitchen holding things in her arms as best she could, who needed two trips, not Susan.

"Aren't you always the one getting everyone drunk?" she called back over her shoulder at him. She just got to the counter when an inevitable sounded echoed through the kitchen, the dropping of a plate. "Crap!"
