Who: Terry Boot and Noel Vaisey
When: Thursday Late afternoon
Where:Terry's Happy Music Space. A.K.A. a small, soundproof room in an attic of an old house.
What: Making music

The last week had dragged by excruciatingly slowly for Terry. Then it just seemed to explode, keeping him busy. Work kept calling him in because the normal pianist was sick so he was meeting all kinds of odd people. Then they were talking about switching his schedule around. So it was very welcome when Thursday rolled around and he was looking forward to listening to Noel play. He was halfway hoping that Noel actually brought the tambourine just to see how that went.

Booze in hand, or hands rather, Terry entered his practice room and looked around. He still had a bit before Noel showed up so he went about tuning his piano so it would be ready. And cleaning a little because it seemed the couch was a mess from the last time he crashed there for the night. When he heard the door open, Terry turned and gave a smile to the newcomer. "HEY!"

The week hadn't been much better for Noel. The shop was the slowest it had been in a long time. The new brooms were due in next week though so hopefully it'd pick up somewhat. And school was starting in a month so he had that to look forward to.

He looked up at the old house and hefted his backpack higher on his shoulder. His tambourine tinkled a little and he grinned, wondering if Terry thought he was serious about it and the harmonica. Climbing the stairs, he hummed to himself as he looked around.

He was surprised by the greeting as he opened the door. "Hello," he said brightly.

"Piano is tuned and ready, booze is near the table, and... Well I forgot what else I was going to say. Please tell me you brought the tambourine?" Terry was climbing on the couch, leaning over the back to try and catch a glance of what Noel had brought. He could be a little... overly cheerful at times.

"Any more deep thoughts, by the way?" Noel was probably the most interesting thing to happen all week so he was curious. Well... James was back, but he hadn't seen him yet. So now was Get To Know Noel time!

"I brought the tambourine. And the harmonica because you can't have one without the other," he said with a little laugh. His eyes went to the table and he grabbed a drink. "No, no more deep thoughts. I just accidentally tripped myself out thinking about why I wasn't aware of dude across the street but I was of myself." Setting his bag on the floor, he smiled and took a drink. "So you play, right?"

"Dude across the street? So are you a surfer or what?" Terry chuckled, turning and flopping on the sofa. When Noel walked by he tried to poke at the bag he carried, wanting to play with the tambourine. Those things were always so wicked when he played with them, but that was when he was younger and... he just wanted to make some noise.

"You have to be more specific, Noel. Do I play what? I play piano, guitar, keyboard, and some other things. Oh, and I sing. But really, I prefer writing. So what do you play? Everything?"

	"You wanna see it?" He laughed, getting out the tambourine. He handed it over and sat next to Terry on the couch. "I play the piano, tambourine, harmonica, guitar, a bit of the drums, and sing. "AH! But I've never thought of a tambourine and a harmonica. So you're the genius here." Terry gave a dimpled-smile before taking the tambourine from Noel, being sure to treat it like it was the most delicate thing in the room. "Wicked." He shook it a little and laughed. "I'm sorry, I had a little bit to drink before you. Will you play for me? I want to hear." He smiled and handed back the tambourine.

"I've never had quite so intimate an audience soooo I apologize in advance if I stumble," he said with a little nervous smile. He got up and sat at the piano bench. "Theymake more sense if I've got guitar back up but here goes." He was almost about to start but stopped himself. "Do you mind if I sing? Because they don't really work all on their own." He flushed a little, not sure why he was so suddenly aware of being just the two of them.

Terry had leaned over the couch and was trying to grab a beer when Noel started talking. By the time he had managed to climb entirely back on the sofa, two beers in hand so he wouldn't have to get up, it seemed Noel was already ready. "Damn, if you had sheet music I could play your back-up. Oh well. Don't worry about stumbling. Just imagine me naked, if that helps with stage-fright. I heard it works, but never tried it myself." He gave his new friend a smile and popped open a beer, happily taking a drink.

"To good music!" He made a small mental note that Noel was cute when blushing, but didn't really think on it much.

"I'll bring sheet music next time. Though it's just in the key of C. A simple strum would work." Noel grinned. "To good music." He took a drink himself and then shook his tambourine. This is gonna suck. He laughed a little and started playing. Smiling, he wondered if Terry would join in, once he got a feel for it. "Every single time I see you, it's like I feel this way..."

Terry had closed his eyes and was drumming the beat on the inside of his thigh, smiling as he listened to Noel. It was... really nice. After he drank some more, he set the beer aside and moved to get his guitar from the corner. He didn't need to tune it since he had been playing earlier. Closing his eyes again, he let himself get lost in the rhythm and had caught on soon enough, giving a bit of background music for Noel. For a while he even forgot it was just the two of them and was listening to Noel's voice. This was going in the good idea column.

Once the song was done, he sat back down on the sofa and settled his guitar on his legs, hi eyes now fully open. "That was amazing. You're really great." He gave Noel another dimpled smile.

	That smile was adorable. Noel found himself smiling back brightly. "You're really great yourself. That sounded awesome." He was feeling a little giddy from the playing. He rarely got to play with other people in the summer and it was always so stuffy in school. Those kids were way too pretentious. "So you liked the tambourine?" He grinned playfully. "YES! I mean, we used to mess when that when I was younger, but my mum always said the point of a tambourine was just to make a lot of noise. You made it work GREAT! And your voice is pretty amazing. Do you think you'll try for something solo after you're done with school or going to look for a band?"

Terry was still pretty giddy from the song. He set his guitar aside, grabbing his beer and sipping on it. He rarely talked music with any of his other friends. Andrew and Jack were always in their own world about it and James... was about football and guys.

	Noel couldn't help but blush at all the praise he was getting. He certainly wasn't used to it. "I'd really like to get a band together. Playing alone is all well and good but really, there's just something about feeding off of each other. Plus, if we ever got big, a band would be more fun on the road."
