Nick knew all sorts of fun things about his family now, and about Sam's, thanks to the fact that Castiel was a shitty babysitter. Everyone had left them alone in the bunker and really, what had they thought would happen? Had they thought that Nick wouldn't snoop? That he wouldn't dig for any and all information he could just out of sheer curiosity? Apparently so, because they hadn't left him with the sharpest tool in the shed.
He'd learned a few... interesting things in the course of his aimless digging, too. Because apparently the Men of Letters had archived family records in places you wouldn't expect -- and he'd found those easily enough. Found them, dug through them, and filed details away for some nebulous later time when he might need to throw some things in Sam or Dean's face. He liked being well-prepared, after all, that wasn't only a trait of Lucifer's. He'd had a few things in common with the archangel besides family issues, after all.
He had to stifle a smirk when Sam walked through the door. Good to know that the man's curiosity was still intact and could override his mistrust. That would forever be useful.
The man walking in behind Sam completely escaped Nick's notice, though.
