Lucas quirked a smile. "I think that's kind of why I don't want to settle in here, honestly. Settling in here, really settling in, feels too much like giving up on everything I've got back home. Everything I could have. And I've always wanted a family."
He and Rachel had already started arguing about that, though, about whether they'd adopt or have children of their own. He'd come down on one side of it, she'd come down on the other, and quite frankly? He didn't mind not having any repeats of that argument.
