Four stood on the sidewalk taking in the sights. So much to see, and all the varied smells were giving him a headache. He closed his eyes and tried to focus himself with a couple of deep breaths, but that just made it all worse. He felt like he might puke from the assault against his nostrils, so he stilled completely, and held his breath for several seconds.
Opening his eyes, he looked up to the sky. A bird flew overhead, and the sight of its wings open against the world made him smile. Birds reminded him of Tris, and thinking of Tris made him feel warm all over. The feeling quickly passed, as he remembered he was alone here, with no idea where he was, or where Tris might be. How had they gotten separated? How had he found his way here? He didn't know, and he had no idea how to go about finding out, but standing around wasn't going to do it.
He put one foot in front of the other. There were people up ahead, walking around, going about their business. He would stop them, every one if he had to, and ask about Tris. He would find her. Finding Tris was more important than learning what happened, or how he'd wound up here in this strange place. Finding Tris was priority, then together they could figure out the rest.
He approached the first person he came close to. "Hey. Hey, you. I need to talk to you." He used the voice he used with new initiates. The voice that said he wasn't going to fool around. The voice that commanded attention, and demanded respect. Combined with a cold, hard look in his steely eyes, he wasn't going to accept anything less than what he desired.
