“Vicky that’s Teal’c, Sam, Daniel, and Jack. Names she can remember, your titles, not a hope of her remembering or ever getting them right.” Xander introduced SG-1 as Vicky dabbed the homemade cleaning paste onto the green goo covered sword.
The paste and goo turned into blue glittery crystals that fell from the sword on to the countertop.
“What just happened? How?” Sam asked as she pointed to the now clean sword that reflected the light from an overhead neon sign.
Carefully pushing the little crystals in a pile Vicky spoke, “I’m not sure exactly. A couple of the gals taking a lot of biology and chemistry classes figured it out and it was like two pages of chemical reactions. All I know is ewy goo and lemon juice baking soda make for pretty blue crystals.”
“Yeah, and you have every window in the house filled with blue sun catchers that you’ve made out of it.”
“Not every window, Xander. Only half of them.”
“Go home and leave me alone. You have school tomorrow.” Pointing to the door he commanded to the grinning imp swinging a sword.
Stretching up on tip toes to kiss Xander’s cheek Vicky smirked and said, “We love you Xander.” before skipping out.
“Who are you?” Looking away from the young girl with a sword to the young man sitting next to him at the bar Jack wanted answers.
“Have you ever needed a vacation from work? A chance to step back and do something else for a while? This bar is owned by the Council and I’ve been assigned to this area of the states. Robby runs this place but since I’m higher in the council than he is, he calls me boss.”
“The Council?”
“Really old company based out of London. My mentor in high school eventually became head of the council and he let me pick what part of the globe I wanted to be based in. I picked here and found Robby. Somehow we ended up in some odd partnership.”
“What do you do for the council?” Sam asked.
“This town and area has turned into a sort of vacation area for work. This bar is the only council related activities in this area. I’m always willing to talk, and so they know where to find me I come here every single night I’m in town. Vicky is formally assigned to the area, but any one else from the council comes and stays as long as they need, until they are ready to go back to what they were doing or to find something else to do.” After finishing his explanation, Xander picked up his glass of soda, drank it all only to have all the ice in the glass slide out onto his face and down his front. “Well, there goes any hope for an great first impression.”
