Title: Every Moment
Fandom: Due South
Characters/Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio
Rating: G
Word Count: 210
Summary: Fraser's smiling.
Fraser wakes, one morning, and Ray's not beside him, doesn't appear to be anywhere in the cabin, so he wraps a blanket around himself and checks the porch.
Where Ray is sitting, warming his hands on a steaming mug of coffee, staring out at the trees, at the light dusting of snow that's fallen overnight, at the wide, clear blue sky. He looks calm, Fraser thinks. He looks happy.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Fraser says, stretching. He's still sore from last night.
"What?" says Ray. "No. They're just..." he gestures, "trees."
"Yes," says Fraser.
"No," says Ray. He eyes Fraser suspiciously. "You're smiling. Why are you smiling?"
"I'm not smiling."
"You are!"
"I'm not." Fraser tries to school his features, to look neutral, but he can tell he's failing, and badly.
"You're creeping me out! Why are you smiling?"
"I'm just..." and he gives up, breaking into a broad grin. "Ray. You like it up here."
"I do not!"
"You do."
"I do not!" Ray turns back to his coffee, petulant. "I hate it, for your information. I hate it a lot."
"Understood, Ray," says Fraser.
"And stop smiling."
"All right." Fraser holds up one hand, surrendering, and goes inside to get his own coffee.
But he doesn't stop smiling.
