The destruction of Sunnydale and the so-called birth of thousands of Slayers was a new beginning for all of them, but especially so for Faith. And as she looked at the crater that had once been Sunnydale with the others, Faith felt a sense of freedom that she’d only ever felt once before when she had first been called. However this time, she silently vowed, she wouldn’t use the gift that destiny had given her for her own selfish motivations. Instead, if Buffy would let her, Faith would use it to help guide some of those thousands of girls who suddenly filled with a new power and who would need guidance.
Title: A Second Chance Author:aaronlisa Rating: FR13 Pairing/Characters: Faith Lehane, Rupert Giles Disclaimer:Buffy the Vampire Slayer belongs to Joss Whedon and company. Prompts:tv_100 – beginnings Notes:Set during Season Eight. Summary: Giles gives Faith another chance. Word Count: 181
Faith can still remember how hopeful she had felt when she had stood at the edge of the crater that had once been Sunnydale. She had naively believed that Buffy would give her a second chance to prove herself. It hadn’t taken long before that hope had been crushed by Buffy. Buffy didn’t trust her around the new Slayers, especially since Faith was just too raw, too impulsive, too dangerous, and just overall too Faith.
In the end, Faith had been regulated to the role of back up: kept away from the impressionable new Slayers who might start to hero-worship Faith (in all the wrong ways) and only called in when they couldn’t handle something.
And then Rupert Giles had walked into her crappy apartment holding out a second chance for her. A way to redeem herself and get out of the business once and for all, and of course she grabbed it with both hands. And there was no one who would care if she died, and even if she did, at least she wouldn’t be Buffy’s little slave anymore.
