Who: Anne and Henry What: Henry arrives at Hever having learned that Anne has, by a great miracle, survived the sweating sickness. Where: Hever, obviously
It had felt like Anne had just left Hever for court and the King's arms, when she had been forced to return nearly less than a month after her arrival. The sweating sickness had began to spread through court, and while she had done everything to protect herself against it, even the King's latest conquest was not immune. Her maid had become ill, and shortly there after, so had Anne. Her father had quickly wisked her back to Hever. They couldn't have her getting the King sick, what with him having no son to inherit the crown. And Anne would have a better chance of getting well in the country than the crowded city.
It had been touch and go almost from the moment she reached home. She'd gone straight to bed, and her father had summoned the doctor. He made frequent visits and within a week told Thomas he had better prepare himself for the worst, as she was not likely to survive. However...amazingly enough, Anne had managed to pull through. She'd been given a clear bill of health and her father immeditaly sent a message to the King that she was well.
Anne remained in bed, still gathering her strength back, but she was well enough for visitors and when the King himself arrived everyone quite in awe. He was taken straight up to see her and Anne, sitting up in bed against her pillows, dressed in nothing more than a fresh nightgown was quite surprised to see him come into her room.
"You're Majesty!" She exclaimed, sitting up a little straighter. "This is quite an unexpected pleasure."
