The very day that Henry had heard of the birth of his son he left for Hever, with the excuse to his wife that he was going to visit Wolsey at his manor. With his small group of guards Henry set out for Hever in the early morning hours – reaching the small countryside estate sometime after midday. They made no stops and took no rest for food or water – Henry was eager to meet his son and see Anne. All he had seen of her for the last month was her handwriting and even that had kept his attention steady.
Upon reaching the estate he dismounted his horse in the courtyard – where he was met by her, Mistress Boleyn.
