WHO: Henry and Katherine WHAT: A discussion WHEN: One evening WHERE: Katherine's chambers
Having finished her prayers for the evening, Katherine had decided that she needed some way to pass the time. Idle hands are the devil's playground, after all. And, since she'd just finished an altar cloth, this evening's work ran more towards embroidering a shirt for Henry. She'd been making all of his shirts for as long as they'd been married. He loved those shirts and she loved making them for him.
Needle darted in and out of the cloth, black thread making designs around the cuffs first. The collar would be next. As she worked, she hummed a soft melody under her breath. The hymn that had played at mass that morning. It was a rather lovely one. Her ladies-in-waiting were gathered around her, working on shirts for the poor. In another moment, she might ask one to read a psalm.
