The Princess wanted to see him, and as always, the Princess got what she wanted. Charles got up and left the book he was reading by the fire in his own room, and after making sure that he looked proper enough, left his room behind and hurried to join Margaret. The castle was full of life, the servants had chores to do before the wedding, and the Portuguese courtiers seemed to think that this was a joyous occasion, but Charles knew better.
“You wanted to see me?” He greeted the Princess and bowed to her, before he closed the door behind him and joined her by the lit fire. Charles wasn’t sure what kind of feelings her presence evoked inside of him, but he was quite certain that they were bad. Bad for the well being of his precious heart “Margaret?”
