If anyone had known -- they would have thought their choice of attire was intended to signify something. Margaret only needed a black veil in order to complete her mourning dress and their huddling by the bay window only made it seem as if the black-clad Charles was offering his condolences. Her fingers laced with his to form a single fist. Her head bowed and her sight drifted out past the window and toward the gardens below. She watched a small group of ladies escorted by a few male courtiers -- she envied them. Their freedom ... or so she figured them to have.
