Who: Eames and John Kennex
When: Week 2 Day 1, Morning
Where: Calderville
What: Still here! Not dreaming! O.o

Eames pottered around the kitchen in the apartment he'd claimed as his own, making himself a mug of black tea once he'd properly woken up and then reassured himself (a couple of times) that yes, his totem was working and yes, he was awake. And in some weird place that let you travel by walking through large stone circles. Obviously.

He checked his totem yet again. Still awake. Good to know.

Lifting his mug, he detoured into the bedroom where his luggage was, and picked up his lighter and fags. From there, he headed out to the front of the flats and sat down on the curb where he proceeded to light up and enjoy that first lungful of smoke of the day. He was going to have to ration out his smokes if he couldn't find any more, he realised as he blew out the smoke, which was a slightly alarming thought; he didn't have to smoke, but he did enjoy early morning cigarettes with a decent cup of tea.

"I see you're settling inokay," John said as he saw who was sitting on the kerb. He walked over and lowered him self to sit down with the man, Eames, who had arrived the previous day. "Did your things show up this morning?"

"Good morning, Detective," Eames replied, and took a drink of his tea. It wasn't quite up to the standard of what he was used to, but beggars couldn't be choosers and all that. It was still tea, after all. "They did indeed, thank you for asking."

The sudden realisation that he had a flat full of... well, stuff he owned had been what had woken him completely, and really, if this place kept throwing him any more curve balls, he was going to wear out his totem. "Can you think of any more surprises I should be pre-warned about?" he asked as he offered a cigarette to John, "or would that just spoil the fun?"

John shook his head at the offer of a cigarette, resting his elbows on his knees after settling his right leg. He had been glad to see his gear show up, including the charging and calibration unit he was dependent on for that limb.

"Surprises aren't really surprises if you know about them," John chuckled as he looked across at Eames. "I guess the main one I can think of that might qualify is Jake, and his flying dinosaur, or ik-something?" He glanced up, looking around the sky as he continued. "I had the luck of meeting him when I first arrived. Ten foot tall blue guy with a tail and ears like ... well, I don't quite know what." He looked back at Eames and grinned again. "I've heard he has a mate, too, but I haven't seen her."

"I promise I'll still act surprised," he replied with a smirk as John laughed, although that soon faded as the other man described some sort of giant.

"There's a giant blue man with his own pterodactyl on the island? Of course there is, why wouldn't there be?" he said, his disbelief more than obvious. His hand sneaked into his jeans pocket as he spoke and he let his thumbnail catch on some of the markings around the edges of his totem, just enough to reassure him yet again. John was clearly talking bollocks.

"Yeah, except it's not one of those. This thing is like technicolour, or something, and just, well, different from anything I saw in the classroom." He paused and grinned again. "Then again I might not've been paying close attention to what the teacher was saying that day."

"Not a pterodactyl, got it." He took a drag on his cigarette before looking back round at John. "So, what else is here? Sentient blobs of jelly? Pirates and Ninjas? Buildings that are smaller on the outside?" he asked, before blowing his lungful of smoke out away from the other man.

John shrugged his shoulders as he looked around. The apartment building was located on Pisces Avenue, a block away from Main Street. Across the street from the building's entrance was a small office building, the bottom level vacant, but able to be set up as a small business, even a doctor's surgery. There was no signage, and no indication of what might be located in the two floors above. Down the street, away from Main Street, was a row of terrace houses, all previously clean and tidy, but the handkerchief front yards and some roofs showing signs of the storm that had torn through just a few days earlier. John figured it might be worth taking a look at the upstairs and seeing how much damage had been done, and if the holes could be easily repaired, or at least covered with tarpaulins to weatherproof them.

"Your guess is as good as mine," he answered Eames, huffing a small laugh. "If you'd told me last week I would be seeing a ten foot tall blue guy with a not-pterodactyl I'd've probably questioned you for information on your supplier, and what you were taking." He turned his head to look at Eames as he continued. "Now I'm just about ready to believe anything."

"Oh, I've probably seen weirder. Just not while I'm awake," Eames admitted with a grin, then took a mouthful of tea. He had seen some crazy shit in people's minds, he'd done crazy shit in people's minds. He hadn't been a big blue giant, though. He'd have to make a note of that, the next time a dream called for some surrealism.

"So, how long have you been here? No longer than a week, I'm guessing," he asked, having noticed where John was looking and following his gaze. "Has anyone worked out why we're here?"

John had to stop and think for a moment. It felt like months, but it had not even been a week when he thought about it. "A week tomorrow," he finally answered, and shook his head briefly.

"Not a clue, from what I've heard, and seen, we're all here the same way, through those giant rings up in the mountains there, and no rhyme or reason as to why. It doesn't even make sense, because the place has obviously been lived in, or at least created, so where are the people who made it, or used to live here? Yet the only people so far have all just arrived the same way, and don't know any more than we do." He huffed a laugh and shook his head. "And so far there's no one who knows how to get back home."
