Who: Harry & Ron What: Harry's going to see his best mate before Ginny kills him. When: Monday, after Ron's journal Where: the Leaky Warnings: drunkenness and language are very likely Status: Incomplete
The last thing Harry had expected this Halloween was for his best mates to show up - and even more than that, he hadn't expected them to show up like this. Broken up, and - in Ron's case, at least - a total mess. Hermione seemed to be holding up alright, in retrospect; Harry hadn't even realized anything was wrong while talking to her. His loyalties were always strained when his best mates were fighting, but the first person to talk to was fairly obvious in this case: Ron was drunk, and taking all the heat for what had happened with him and Hermione.
Harry didn't know enough to say whether that was deserved, but even if it was, he wasn't planning on adding to it. He'd never really be able to choose sides between his best mates where their relationship was concerned, but someone needed to be on Ron's side right now: not to agree that he'd done the right thing, but to be there for him even if he'd seriously fucked up.
On the plus side, all of the other things Harry had been thinking about today - all the survivor's guilt and grief, tangled up with the emotions he had about seeing people alive, that had been weighing on him - had left his mind for the moment. It would all come back, he was sure, but right now he needed to find his friend.
He spotted Ron in a booth once he'd stepped inside the Leaky, and headed over, sliding in next to him. "Hey," he said, at a loss for what else to say. Ron was a mess, that much was obvious. "So - had enough drinks to tell me what happened?"
