Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Evvy and Tris
Where: The market
What: A reunion

Evvy put her journal away, having told Tris that she was leaving to find her. She smiled. It was good to know she'd be able to see the temperamental redhead again.
"Luvo, guess who I'm going to meet," she said, as the crystal creature emerged from under the bed.

"Who, Evumeimei? I am not in the mood for a guessing game."

"Tris. She's here!"

"May I accompany you, Evumeimei?" he asked, always polite. "I have been in this room too long, I think."

"Sure. I'll get the sling." She finished tying on a black headscarf that matched her tunic and picked up the handy sling she'd worked up to carry Luvo. She fastened her sandals before she put him in the sling, then set off.

It was a short walk to the marketplace; once she reached it, she looked around for Tris. It should have been easy to spot the redhead against the identical masses that made up most of the population of the Realm, but it took her a moment to find the chubby girl. When she did, she trotted over and was surprised at how young Tris looked. She looked to be about the same age as Briar, who was now only two years older than Evvy instead of the usual four.

"Tris!" she greeted the weatherwitch, glad to see a familiar face. "Have you killed anyone yet?"

"You say that like people die around me weekly," Tris grumbled, strangely not too affected. It was a bit of normalcy, if not entirely pleasant normalcy - she hadn't killed anyone in a long time - and it turns out anything will do when she's lifted out of her world on her way to class and deposited in another in the blink of a confusing eye. If she'd been asked before, she would probably have said things such as that would set her on edge more, but as it turns out she was surprisingly not all that on edge to begin with.

There's very little doubt in her mind that she'll get back eventually, it's the way things go - sooner or later she gets her way, and in the meantime it's clear she can survive here, there are two people she knows here, and she'll just treat it as another learning experience, the best kind, one that teaches her again just how ludicrious the word 'impossible' is. She's sure nearly all the mages in Emelan, Namorn, anywhere, would leap at the chance to study a place outside of time and seeming, outside of their knowledge of space, that seems to have it's own laws of physics, if it has any at all.

She greets Evvy's companion with a good bit more manners, she still hasn't lost the influence of the bulk of her childhood, "Hello, Luvo. How are you?"

"It's surprising that they don't," Evvy retorted, teasing the older girl. "You should hear the tales Briar tells of you."

"Hello, Trisana. I am quite well, thank you, if a bit perplexed--as you are--of our surroundings," Luvo answered. "Evumeimei, if you will please put me down? I have not been here, and I would like to look around."

Evvy removed her strange friend from his sling and put him on the ground, watching him totter away for a moment before looking at Tris again. "So how did you get here?" she asked.

"Careful, or you and he may end up on that list," she idly warns, not at all serious, although you can't tell that by her expression.

She watches the small mountain man walk away as well before replying to Evvy's question, "I really have no idea. I was home and then I was here."

Evvy shuddered. "I hope not. That's what happened to me, too, though. This place isn't picky about where it grabs you, I don't think."

"This place could stand to learn some manners, I think," she mutters, "How long have you been here?"

"Look who's talking of manners, and Rosethorn mutters about how you're as bad as me!" Evvy teased the older girl, laughing. "I've been here a few weeks now. Poor Briar's been here longer'n me though."

"Well, I don't greet people by asking about the death count," Tris pointed, raising her eyebrows. "Hmm."

"It's a valid question with you," Evvy replied with a giggle. "What've you noticed about this world? Anything...weird?" She was hoping the weather felt odd to Tris, just as the rocks felt odd to her and the plants felt odd to Briar, but she didn't want to plant the thought in the girl's head.

"So far everything seems weird about this world," she replied, narrowing her eyes at the other girl. "But a few things specifically, yes."

"Like what?" Evvy asked, her expression not changing even when she noticed Tris's seeming hostility. "The weather and stuff? Or other things?"

"Don't pretend you weren't hinting. Yes, the weather 'and stuff,'" Tris wrinkled her nose, "is what I meant."

Evvy giggled to herself, amused by Tris's aloofness. She was surprised to find how much she'd actually missed the prickly redhead, though they had never really interacted all that much at home.

"Good, 'cause me 'n' Briar have noticed some odd stuff about the rocks and the plants here, too. They seem just a little bit off from the ones at home," Evvy said. "Dunno why, though."
