ARRIVALS When guests arrived on Hogwarts grounds, they were guided to an area far away from the castle itself so that no one was near any particular damaged area. There were seats aligned to form a semicircle in front of a stage, and should more guests arrive than anticipated, seats were drawn up by Headmistress McGonagall. There was a table nearby that had some tea, lemonade, & finger food (all magicked to be hot/cold, depending on the dish). In the distance, everyone could see that much of Hogwarts was pretty much the same as it had been the day the Battle of Hogwarts took place; rubble was everywhere, slight smoke was coming from somewhere, and it seemed like nothing had really been done.
SERVICE & SPEECHES McGonagall started off the whole speech at precisely 4pm. She thanked everyone for coming, first and foremost, despite the generally unsure attitude about having the Memorial Service at Hogwarts. She said she believed that it needed to be at Hogwarts, as a tribute to those lost at the Battle of Hogwarts, and as a tribute to Albus Dumbledore, whose grave lay here, as well. She spoke about how difficult the war has been on everyone, and it would be a trying process to move forward from here, but they need to come together as a community, in order to achieve it.
She then introduced a few notable speakers:
KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT: Kingsley spoke about how his role as a Minister of Magic would allow him to make drastic decisions over the next few months that would result in the betterment of wizarding society. He looks forward to uniting the community, with a specific goal, and he has full faith that the entire society will come together peacefully.
HARRY POTTER: Harry kept his speech short and succinct, mostly because he didn't know what to say. He, too, thanked everyone for coming to the Memorial Service. He understands that it was probably difficult for some people to be here, whether mentally or physically (or both), so he appreciates it. He knows that the entire war has been mentally draining, and there is really nothing he can say that can erase the bad of the past few years. He hopes that everyone will take part in rebuilding the future together.
After the speeches were done, McGonagall invited everyone to relax and have more drinks & snacks, but urged everyone to get going before the night dawned.
AFTERWARDS While there was no specific event organised for after the service, and much of Hogsmeade is under repair, members of the Order and Dumbledore's Army and friends were welcome to have a drink or two at the Hog's Head.
