Prabal Gurung for Target!
I went at like 9:15 this morning in Falls Church, VA, and I actually got things! Four things, specifically. This is my biggest clothes shopping spree in months, but I'm getting paid now, so yay.
Yes, I know. Exciting, Loren. You went to the crazy Target opening and got a black button-down blouse. But I actually needed a nice black button-down blouse, and this one was as good as any. idk if you can tell, but the collar is this faux-leather stuff and there's some lace detailing on the top half that bumps it up from just a basic black button-down. You can't actually see it any better in the lookbook photo, lol.
I didn't see this online (idk if it is even in the lookbook), and tbh I didn't even try this on at the store. On my way out, I saw that there was like one of these left in my size and picked it up, figuring that I would return it if I didn't like it, but I could use some more nice blouses anyway. I actually like the way it looks on me a lot! So that was lucky.
This was actually one of the things that I wanted most when I looked online last week. I like the way it's styled there, though I could see a chartreuse skirt being fun too and also on trend. I actually do like it with jeans (though I kind of did a bad job of tucking it in in that picture), and I also have a high-waisted black pencil skirt that I think would make it very office-appropriate. So yay for things that I can dress up and down. I also really like the print.
I wish I'd gotten more things in colored prints, but this was the only colorful thing that I really liked. When I got there, they only had the floral shorty shorts in sizes 10 and 12, and I was like, "Oh that's a shame, I wanted to try those on." But then I was like, "Would I really wear multicolored floral shorts?" Answer: probably not.
The other thing that I really liked online was this dress, which Target actually had in my size when I got there, but it looked awful on me. It didn't hit my body at the right points, and it hung awkwardly. It was really disappointing.
This is the dress I did end up getting, which tbh I did not find super exciting in the lookbook, but it is cute. I think the subdued print makes it more work-appropriate than most of the other dress options, and I could definitely see myself wearing it in the office with a colored cardigan or something. I'm not a huge fan of the way it gives me uniboob, but other than that I think it fits me really well. It hits my waist at exactly the right place and cuts off at the right part of my leg (though you can't really tell the second because of my horrific inability to take selfies).
I wasn't sure about it while I was in the store, so I took this picture to text my friends and ask them what they thought. I should have taken pictures of everything else because the lighting is so much better than in my kitchen, but whatever. I bought it anyway so I could return it if I changed my mind, but I think I will keep it because $45 is good for a nice work dress, even if I'm not super excited about it.
