Lily nodded, too distracted to protest him paying. "Thanks for the offer, James, but I don't think either one of us needs to be out at night..."
She hurried out of the tiny ice cream parlor, into the street, just as the final sliver of sunlight left the horizon. Instantly, she noticed that the shops along Diagon Alley began to close. Everyone seemed to be taking the warning from the Prophet seriously.
She couldn't explain the anxiety that took over her then, propelling her feet into motion. Lily just wanted to get out of Diagon Alley; she wanted to be inside her house, in the light. She grabbed James' wrist and ran towards the alley they had met up in.
