Lily followed James' mother into the sitting room, twisting her hands nervously. She wasn't sure why she was so anxious. She'd never met James' parents, of course, but they were just parents, and they seemed like perfectly nice people.
Mrs. Potter gestured to the plush couch with a smile, and Lily carefully took a seat, crossing and un-crossing, and then re-crossing her ankles. Mrs. Potter sat across from her.
"You're Lily Evans, then?" she asked. Lily nodded. "We've been hearing a lot about you from James for several years now."
Lily blushed and decided she didn't want to know what James had told his parents about her. "James and I are, er, good mates," she blundered. Up until recently I couldn't stand the berk, but she doesn't need to know that...
Mrs. Potter smiled again. "You're very beautiful. I can see why James took such a fancy to you."
