Lily ignored the curious stares and whispers of the rest of the school, brushing her hair out of her hot face. "Let them think what they want. Doesn't matter, does it?" Matching his smirk, she let him wrap his hand around hers, and walked briskly with him out of the hall.
She didn't know where to go now--back to the Head compartments, or would that be a bit too private? The safest choice seemed to be the grounds, and so she headed in that direction, sighing when the cool fall air hit her blushing cheeks. It felt nice, she thought as they walked, to hold his hand. It was warm, and bigger than hers, and it felt way too natural.
After a moment, she broke the silence--it wasn't an awkward silence at all, but a companionable one. "Sorry...you know, for the whole avoiding you thing. Really. I was being daft."
