James's praise made her beam; she couldn't help it. "I've never been able to do that before," she said, twisting slightly so that she could look back at him. "You should be amazed, James."
Right after she noticed the rain clouds, it began to pour on them. Lily, shrieking, barely managed to grab onto the broom with both hands before James was whizzing them back to the ground. Lily landed sloppily, hard on her feet and nearly toppling sideways, and she was already soaked. Her hair matted to the sides of her face in clumps. And beside her, James was laughing.
"What's so funny, you berk?" she demanded, but she was starting to laugh too. The rain felt good. It was a little chilly, but Lily had been sweating from nerves.
