She perked up and smiled at that. "That's very kind of you," she said. So often, what was preached to her was that 'them', those not in the fold, weren't up to par. They weren't 'chosen'. It wasn't put in so many words, but there was definitely an adversarial air to it. Us against Them.
So it was always nice when she met someone who defied expectation. While she couldn't be positive that he was being sincere, she had a good feeling that he was. In fact, she sort of just got a good feeling about him in general, one she couldn't explain. But Wren was used to feeling ways she couldn't explain, so it wasn't alarming to her, or unusual.
"My name is Wren," she introduced herself, looking for a moment like she didn't know what to do with her hands. People shook hands, didn't they? She didn't usually, though. She usually met people and was a good five feet away from them. She didn't usually make physical contact with anyone, let alone strangers.
