Re: Clementine and Cody
“Cool,” She said, depositing her pipe and bag into her purse again. “It’s the best of my crop for sure. I bet you’d like it. Real mellow.” Reaching to take her mbira back and pull it closer to her, she idly thumbed the little metal prongs again and smiled happily at the pretty bell sounds. “So wait...what song do you think I should sing, Pretty Eyes?”
“You deal too?” Cody asked, thinking that was a good thing to know. He laughed at the name, but didn’t do anything about it. “That’s up to you isn’t it? Honestly, I don’t much care. I just want to get back on stage again.”
“Yeah, I deal and I grow. I am a full service operation. Not one to really boast about myself, but I’m pretty sure I have the best product in Tranquility,” She said, shrugging off his response to her question. Not really a helpful answer, but then again Clementine didn’t care. Honestly she might not even get up off this chair. She might just sit here and listen to people sing and play the mbira at her table all night. Or she might get up and sing ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’. It would really just depend on the moment. “Then what’re you sticking around here talking with me for? I’m not a stage. Get on up there,” She said with a grin.
“I’ll have to look you up to see if you’re right or not,” Cody said before righting his guitar. “You are right about me needing to just get up there. I’m going to do that. Sorry if they like me so much that you won’t be able to play.” He winked at her then headed towards the stage.
Clementine laughed a little, something light, before shrugging again as he walked off toward the stage. Maybe Pretty Eyes would have a pretty voice too. She wouldn’t mind sitting out if he was as good as he said he was. Plus, she had her mbira.
