Once the whole suggestion of kidnapping Frangio was raised, Rodolphus found it rather hard to deny how charming it was. And so, this fine Thursday evening, he tapped Goyle and Nott on the shoulder and off they went to stalk the fashion designer. (Who Dolph would swear he recognises from somewhere, leading Geoffrey to suspect that he's gay.)
With the show so close, Frangio worked late (and alone) in his studio, sharpening the edge of his brilliance in blessed silence safe from idiots, distractions and enemies. OR SO HE THOUGHT.
Having observed this, Geoffrey spake thus: "Are we waiting for some sort of signal? Let's go, fag's alone." With which wisdom no one else argued.
They went in cloaked and masked, old-skool style, with Geoffrey taking the lead, Montgomery following with wand at the ready, and Rodolphus taking up the rear (do you mind, Geoffrey, I'm not gay) covering all the angles.
Frangio is not a duellist.
Now toting one fashion designer (petrified by Dolph), the lads headed back to Goyle's house (because Rodolphus's is being watched and Montgomery's has house guests who might have the Trace on them, but they'd better bloody be quiet because if young Greg gets woken up there'll be hell to pay - but this is why silencing charms were invented).
Geoffrey, as gracious host, took the lead on the interrogation, offering (threatening) to "rearrange" Frangio's "pretty little face" if he didn't cooperate. For extra incentive, there was a knife involved. But Frangio was less than forthcoming, thinking these masked louts had something to do with a rival. Who has bad taste.
Until Tippy appeared, and recognised her old classmate, prompting one of the most awkward class reunions in the history of Hogwarts. (And that's where Dolph remembered him from! See? NOT GAY.)
Now that they are obviously not rivals, Frangio's reaction is more along the lines of SHIT SON, and he squealed like a pig. (He doesn't know if the Prophet was right, but he does not want to find out.)
Goyle leaned on Frangio to lead them to the secure location where he's keeping the diadem, and hand it over to them. (Geoffrey stayed home. He's there anyway. And "Do you want to go back to the man with the knife?" proved adequate for keeping Frangio in line.)
And they would have got away with it too if not foryou pesky kidsthe fact that there's a motion-sensor security charm on the diadem's location (because Frangio is a paranoid freak) that went off like a banshee upon picking up a non-Frangio humanoid. Montgomery obliviated Frangio quick-smart, and the lads scarpered, leaving the designer confused and blinking when the security team summoned by the alarm arrives.
