Link to story: On MA starting with In the Arena and on the author's web site. I would recommend reading from the author's site. All twelve parts are there in order. There are only eleven parts on MA, and they are not clearly titled.
MA links:
In the Arena
On the Sands
Blood is Spilled
Shattered Plans
Pray for the Living
Mourn Those Who Die
Fear Things Brought to Life
The Sheltering Sky
Rebirth
Renown
Reconciliation
For the twelfth part, Resolution, please go to the author's site.
Reasons for recommending: Alternate Universes offer opportunities to explore certain aspects of a character's personality without the restrictions of canon. This series questions what would become of Obi-Wan if he were stripped of his Jedi identity and forced to fight for his life. Obi-Wan is a darker, deadlier man. He is conflicted, jaded, and utterly compelling.
Quote from story: "You seem to be watching my champion closely Sar Gonn. What do you think of his fighting skills?"
"He is indeed most adept, Empress. It is easy to see how he has attained the position he holds." As Qui-Gon spoke, the black-clad fighter leapt over his opponent's head, flipping and spinning as he slashed downward with his sword. The man's use of the Force in the move was blatant and that coupled with pose the champion settled himself into upon landing struck a chord deep within the Jedi Master, making him lose track of the Empress's next comment.
How in all the hells of the Sith had a gladiator on an outer rim planet learned the opening kata to the Kal'treva?

Rina splits her story into three subheadings each further divided into four sections. To me it reads as a single story. Several of the sections end with cliffhangers and it is necessary to continue on. I had thought this series was unfinished until I discovered the twelfth part on the author's site.
This story is the reason I joined the M-A list. I wanted the updates as soon as they were available!
