    Hand in Glove, by Gloriana

    Hello again *waves*!

I'm doing another set of recommendations. I'm not limiting myself to deathfic this time, but rather will pick old "classic" favs from several categories. But if you are all really, really good, and watch the ending of TPM enough times, I may rec a deathfic, too. [eg]. Today it's an oldie but goodie PWP.

Reasons for recommending: This was posted way back in '99, and was the first PWP I read that really got me all hot and bothered. It's still one of my favorite PWPs. But as with *all* my fav 'hot monkey sex' stories, it's the characterizations and a bit of angst that really make me, err, overheat.

This may have been Gloriana's first slashfic. There are a few bits here that are less polished than in her subsequent works, but hey, when it comes to the sex, this one still sizzles. Aggressive!Obi. Mmmmm.

Reasons for recommending: The world is full of unrequited-love stories from the perspective of the person in love. There is not a corresponding abundance of stories of unrequited love told from the point of view of the person doing the unrequiting. This Qui-Gon is not cold, heartless, cruel, or any of that; he is simply not in love with Obi-Wan as Obi-Wan is with him. Raven does a lovely job showing the difficulty of that position.

I assure you that this has been on my list of things to recommend since the beginning of August. The fact that it mirrors a situation in my own life is nothing more than a painful irony.

Quote from story: Finally, Qui-Gon simply stopped his racing thoughts. )
